Summary of Hypoglycemic Agents
Oral hypoglycemic drugs are used only within the treatment of type 2 diabetes which could be a disorder involving resistance to secreted insulin. Type 1 diabetes involves a scarcity of insulin and requires insulin for treatment.There are now four classes of hypoglycemic drugs :-
- Sulfonylureas
- Metformin
- Thiazolidinedione's
- Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors.
These drugs are approved to be used only in patients with type 2 diabetes and are employed in patients who haven't skilled diet, weight reduction, and exercise. they're not approved for the treatment of ladies who are pregnant with diabetes.
